How can women's organizations help stop violence against women and girls in their communities?

In Liberia and the world violence against women is a major public health problem and a violation of human rights. In communities, villages, towns and cities there is lack of access to education and opportunity, and low social status in communities are linked to violence against women. In my community violence by an intimate partner is one of the most common forms of violence against women. There are no centers where women and girls can assess first aid assistant for urgent help. A wide range of physical, mental, sexual and reproductive, and maternal health problems can result from violence against women.

Many women do not seek help or report violence when it occurs.

How can we help these women and girls from this violence?

Will using Social Media help?

  1. Using the radio will allow us to reach a wide segment of a community. It also offers individuals, especially young girls, anonymous access to valuable information and resources without having to go through others they may not trust in their homes and communities.
Women Advocacy Radio FM 103.5 will soon start broadcasting on issues like this in Liberia.
